Message from President of BBCA

To members of the Bruce Beach Cottagers Association,

I wish to thank everyone for their support with the willow/poplar tree removal request to the Township. I want to let you know that this issue is not at an end. I will be pursuing it further.

The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Township and the Ministry of Natural Resources is a 2 page document. It has 2 paragraphs that I feel are important. First it states that "The Ministry may terminate this MOA without cause......" The second paragraph that we need to look at contains the phrase: " ..... while providing public recreational day use of the beaches."

At this time I plan to do the following:

  • I will be writing to the Honourable Kathryn McGarry (Minister in charge of the Ministry of Natural Resources MNR) requesting that the MNR terminate the MOA giving her our reasons for making the request.

  • I will be writing to Lisa Thompson (Elected member of Provincial Parliament for Huron-Bruce) and requesting her support for our request. I will invite both to come here to have a walk along the beach with us.

  • I will offer that MNR enter into a MOA with the Bruce Beach Cottagers Association whereby we will be responsible for looking after the Beach.

  • I have other ideas related to the Municipal election in November 2018

Letters will be copied to you through Ross.
